How the fuck is it that Flynn and Stanley, with all their comic writing experience and years of dealing with Sonic's timeline and lore, still can't consistently write better than literal game developers who had zero writing experience? Look at this shit. Kikuchi comes in fresh with no Sonic experience at all, gets to work on Battle, and gives us arguably one of the best stories in the franchise. Maekawa admits he had major problems understanding what Sonic even was supposed to be, yet still managed to create what most people consider the peak of Sonic storytelling. Miyamoto is known for directing Generations and some Olympic games but somehow wrote a better story for Riders than anything we've gotten lately. Hell, even Iizuka with all his faults comes up with genuinely interesting story concepts even if he can't execute them for shit.
Meanwhile Flynn and Stanley have been toiling away for this franchise for YEARS, they know every detail of the timeline, every character quirk, every piece of lore, and yet despite it all they're still putting out mid-tier garbage that feels like committee-written safe crap. Flynn especially just seems like he's gonna be SEGA's yes-man forever, only comfortable with his specific comic format and completely lost when it comes to actual game storytelling.
There was literally some anon in these threads who used to share incomplete scripts that showed more potential than most official Sonic stories since SOA took over. How is that even possible? How are professional writers with decades of experience getting outclassed by random game devs and fucking anons? Where's the quality control?
