you are exactly as good as you should be given what you've attempted so far in your life. To train your eye to draw accurately from life is a very different skill to painting (awesome) twisted creatures from imagination. Start with drawing cups and boxes, fruit etc from life. objects made from simple shapes. do that a lot. make attempts at faces from life too, it will be tough, and you'll lose those battles often, but will find small victories if you keep at it. I found drawing myself in a mirror every so often was a good exercise, you don't have to look for a sitter. pic rel did 1000 self portraits, it was pretty inspirational for me back in the day.
