I'm 29, never drew but want to render like Rapoza or Ruan Jia.

That shit takes 10 years professionally speaking. It is a plethora of skills that are very varied. You can do it but you need to work a lot at it and with many resources, constant feedback and professional help. The guys you are mentioning are also talent outliers. Most likely you won't because at 25 you would already show incredible talent. But you can do a lot still.

Okay so imagine this;
>On a date
>Date asks what you do
>"Oh, I draw!"
>"Really anon? That's so cool, draw me a picture!"
>"Oh, uh... well I can only draw on my compu-"
>Her pussy immediately dries up and she leaves mid meal
>She even paid for herself because she respects you so little

That's your digital only future, should you choose it... and if you ever get a date.

Both artists underwent training arcs that were largely traditional. Ruan went to Chinese art school, and rapoza drew in pencil and copied anatomy from Loomis and bridgman obsessively.

Can't tell if you're a trad purist or a promptnerd. Either way you left out how the majority of digital artists actually paint and like to use the medium primarily for painting.
It's not like there isn't a world of examples out there already. Like there hasn't been literally decades of painted digital work already uploaded to the internet.
Can't just boil digital painters down to a bunch of hacks and cheats and expect to be taken seriously. It's just disingenuos antagonistic behavior. Maybe go draw or something instead of hating on a different medium than your own..
Maybe if you were actually competent at your craft you wouldn't need to make a strawman of all digital artists to feel better about your own shortcomings.

How do I cope with being bad at drawing? I initially wanted to become an animator when I was 15, but gave up and picked up digital painting for 5 years. Then I gave up and ever since I've been trying to reignite the passion.
My problem is that I find it too hard to draw irl. I tried drawing my mother but I kept failing at it, no matter how hard I tried. :(. How do I cope with sucking?

you are exactly as good as you should be given what you've attempted so far in your life. To train your eye to draw accurately from life is a very different skill to painting (awesome) twisted creatures from imagination. Start with drawing cups and boxes, fruit etc from life. objects made from simple shapes. do that a lot. make attempts at faces from life too, it will be tough, and you'll lose those battles often, but will find small victories if you keep at it. I found drawing myself in a mirror every so often was a good exercise, you don't have to look for a sitter. pic rel did 1000 self portraits, it was pretty inspirational for me back in the day.

Yes. If you want to become a strong artist, starting trad is the best option. It allows you to observe from life consistently as well as develop an understanding of the fundies while having to commit to mistakes . Digital art gives artists too much moving room, moving room that artists should only have once they’re already good.

Honestly anon just keep at it. It’s a start that you’re drawing from life, as you’ll improve much faster that way. Heads from life are especially hard. I find that studying Loomis alongside drawing heads from life will yield good results. Though I don’t usually use the Loomis method when drawing heads from life, it’s useful for proportions and how to manipulate the head as a 3D shape, as well as good draftsmanship in general. So maybe before drawing your mom, draw a couple of female Loomis heads first to train yourself, ya know? Also, make sure to draw every day, even if it’s a little.
