He's pretty much the same in the manga except that he has an inner demon that sucks up all the good luck around him to the point where swords and arrows break before they hit him, can stab himself in the neck multiple times without hitting a vital spot, can use his spit to power up people and drive them crazy, and can alter the course of history by literally eating panels of the manga.
