When it's executed well.

By well I don't mean "It HAS to be pedestrian and normal." I mean the chemistry has to be exactly right and the story has to be fantastical. I've written better romance shitposts and gotten bigger and better reactions from a wider audience than some of the dog shit romances you see in vidya.

One of the most annoying examples that people tout as a "great vidya romance" is Aeris and Cloud." FUCK OFF. Did you actually play the fucking game? There's practically no chemistry at all. Same with Cloud and Tifa. Kitase and Nojima are stunted by their horrific "hurr durr so honoraburu express feering is baddu" Japanese upbringing. Most other romances you see in vidya are tumblr-tier fanfic slop. It's like they never loved a woman before. But then a lot of stories in vidya these days are written by women and as much as I like women they can't tell a fucking story to save their lives and their sensibilities on romance are so warped that everything looks like a replay of when they were 7 years old and they were mashing their barbie doll against their big brothers action man and yelling "UNGH! YEAH! YOURE SO HOT! YUM YUM!"

So actually? No. I don't like romance in vidya because it's written so fucking badly that I can't think of a single example of "good"

Not one. Not a single one can make my heart soften or my dick harden. It's all cuckoldry, oblivious hero, forced dog shit. It makes me wonder what the hell other peoples relationships or their desires in a partner even look like.
