Because it is completely false. Majority of blue collar workers are not clearing 65k a year based on a 40hr/week schedule. Most are making from 47k-58k/year It is even worse for those on the manufacturing side.
I been a shopsman iron worker for 6 years. Unionized and everything. Highest paying shop in the midwest payscale caps out at 34$/hr as a fitter/welder. Thats with a 2$/hr bump for working nights. Most of the tradesmen clearing 65k/year are working 45-55hours/week and getting a lot of overtime pay.
