IMO a lot of gacha game tendencies are driven by FOMO. Everybody else somehow has X, and (You) don't want to feel left out in the conversation by not having X. Or so how I interpret it. There's other factors I can think of, like compulsive spending habits, actual gambling addiction or havign a genuine fondness for the character but is ruined by terrible luck. I quit gacha outside of GF2 upon realizing this, there's no point in trying out other gacha games outside of feeling left out.
