The performance and role of mechs in their own weight classes varies so greatly that simply picking a random mech and expecting it to perform to your expectations based on weight class isn't a good idea. Even just variants of the same mech will wildly alter what it does.
You'll need look at the mechs you want to bring on an individual basis and make a judgement based on that.
