1. I generally tolerate RNG in grand strategy games because real life is RNG-dependent; in theory and on paper your nation should win that war, but random shit happens- just like in history.

Anyway I get that many players want to min/max and hate randomness. I'm more of a nation-building LARPer than a hardcore gamer.

2. I agree that EU4 at its core is a really boring game with more idle time than playing. In the last few DLC's I just found myself playing through the featured nations' new mission trees (they are pretty fun in my opinion) and then play another game once I'm done with them.

3. The biggest weakness of any Paradox strategy game is ultimately the lack of late game. Once you blob up you're unstoppable. I rarely play beyond year ~1650
