The most popular one is heads as a measurement unit, but iirc some "checkpoints" are unreliable because they fall in soft parts of the body. Vilppu uses the length from the base of the nose to the top of the head, which is more reliable than the former as it falls only in bone landmarks. You'll have to consult the specifics with the authors themselves though (Loomis uses heads btw)
