Skimming through the mech liber a bit more, why owuld you ever buy the alpha for 10 points? Are the mental stats worth it?

Also, can I get a "mechanicum factions for dummies" qrd? Seems like main detachment can have mixed tribes, but aux are monotribe, unless you logi benefit, in which case they can mix tribes again? Why did they make it like this?
