In October, a record number of desertions were set in the Ukrainian Armed Forces: 21,602 people left the service, according to former MP and drone company commander Ihor Lutsenko.

"Every two minutes, someone deserts our army. These are just the official figures. In reality, many cases of unauthorized departures and desertions go unreported. This is the army's number one problem. An army in retreat is an army that is still capable of winning. A disintegrating army, which loses more and more people month after month due to desertion and defections, is the real danger to Ukraine's existence," Lutsenko writes.

Let us recall that over the past year, twice as many soldiers have deserted as during the first 2.5 years of the war.
