The flavor and fantasy it's selling so far are a big turn off for me. I do like 4e combat a decent amount, not all the time and not every part of it, but I have had fun with it.
But just watching a single Draw Steel combat really turned me off. 1 hour to fight 10 goblin (9 of which were mechanically Draw Steel Minions), all the usual 4e nonsense of player interrupts and triggers that really bow up how long each turn / round takes, a bunch of whacky colorful people and freaks who wield mysterious and bizarre powers, but then use these powers to fight goblins as level 1 fantasy smucks.
A goblin stabs me with his spear (tier3 success, 7 damage + bleeding) so I use Time magic (this is usually the sign of something very powerful) to make him do it again and... he stabs me with a tier 2 success (6 damage + bleeding)
POWERFUL TIME MAGIC! You can see this all in the 1st video they posted of Matt + other devs playing their starter campaign.
I think there are interesting and cool ideas in the mechanics and tiers of success is not a bad idea to put on a 4e power system/combat, the monster designs might be pretty neat, I do like the interesting 4e monster designs, so I'll look at it for some inspiration and stealing stuff, but am not motivated to buy or run the products.
