it was either cut down on the CGs to maintain the previous story release schedules like in previous years (recall that 2 chapters of eden treaty were spread out over 3-4 months as well), or keep the same CG work quantity but make all story volumes take as long as Volume EX.
Kinda the trade-off nexon has to work with since a big chunk of the old art team responsible for the main story bailed out on them.
