The slime was used to create the alpha babies (Nanna, Grandpa, Mom and Bro aka Jane, Jake, Roxy and Dirk). Then the slime was mixed together (brunettes together and blondes together respectively) and made another batch of babies, which are the beta kids (John and his friends. So Jane + Jake = John & Jade and Roxy + Dirk = Rose & Dave). In John's world, the Nanna and Grandpa babies were sent to 1910, Mom and Bro to the 70s and the beta kids to the late 90s (where they would become the kids we know). In Jane's world its flipped so John and Jade go to the 1910s, Rose and Dave to the 70s and the alpha kids go to the late 90s instead (with exceptions for Dirk and Roxy because of some glitch)
