My girlfriend works for him. She knows I voted conservative and we argue about it a lot. After he won, I got into an argument about how much I hate Liberals and how they're going to bring in more immigrants. She yelled out, "Well, you're going to have to get used to it because it'll only increase." That stuck with me and a few weeks later I asked her about it. I asked if that's actually what she thinks will happen and here's what she told me, in a nutshell:
Liberals are going to slow down immigration and the temporary worker program. They didn't see how bad the tariffs situation was and they will be focusing on that. As soon as the tariff situation is resolved and the public loses focus on immigration, it'll ramp back up to pre-2025 levels. They're waiting for the tariff situation to resolve because if they have both tariffs and the high temporary workers, the population will blame the immigration situation for the economy and not the tariffs.
In effect, as soon as the tariffs are resolved, it's back to more immigration.
