Why do we call say "hedge hog", but they say "Needle Mouse"?

Needlemouse is the far cooler name, then "hedgehog". "Hedge Hog" is like a pig with shrubs or whatever... that's lame. "Needlemouse" is cool. It's like a mouse, but with NEEDLES! Spikes! A cute little creature that's also pointy, sharp, EDGY!!! The COOLER Mickey Mouse!
