Afaik just like Babu, Rea was merging with nature and is in the process of returning to the dirt. Guess she is decomposing but far slower now and retains her consciousness (mostly, she still seemed to want to eat the Furuya grandkids) which I'm not sure if its nice or a fate worse than death. Rather than being put down after going on a rampage and losing her sense of self, she is to live a long life in nature and see people grow old and die.
As for the white color, I think it was the author's stylistic choice since she isn't like that in the well.
