Unimaginative MBA types sterilize and standardize the restaurants to reduce setup costs because then all interior design is bought at a greater volume and they do so in a way to cut cleaning and upkeep costs. This kills the brand over time, but CEOs are paid so much that quarterly profits matter more than the long-term viability of the company. Then someone else comes up with a creative idea for a new startup restaurant and the process repeats itself.
Too bad I liked the Grandpappy’s Country Fried Breakfast but I don’t drive interstates as often now so no big deal. Maybe I’ll buy some of their old gas stations signs or kitchen querns when they sell of their interior decor.
