Dodger fans like to deflect the fact that there is an objective difference between spending 300 million as a team like the Rays vs spending 300 million as the Dodgers. The Rays having to commit that much basically means that guy has to be the face of the org for the next decade and he BETTER live up to it otherwise the team is going to be stuck and will never pull out of it. Meanwhile the Dodgers will make 20 times that guy's contract in a month due to their TV deals, sponsorships, and general market. Sure TECHNICALLY every team can spend as much as the dodgers on ONE player, but by all metrics out there, there is no way every team in the league could do what they are doing.
