That is precisely the point I am making. It speaks volumes, does it not? The failure in characterization is not some abstract flaw of "the games" but a direct consequence of Mr. Maekawa's peculiar vision for the franchise.
He has a demonstrable history of mangling established characters to suit his narratives. Before he reduced Ms. Blaze to a mere accessory for Mr. Silver, he had already begun the process with Mr. Tails. Mr. Maekawa took a capable, action-oriented hero and friendly rival to Mr. Sonic and put him in a mech, beginning the flanderization that western writers would later use as a template to turn him into a poor imitation of Ms. Sally.
His preference is not to write the characters as they are, but to warp them into what he needs them to be. Ms. Blaze's treatment in '06 was not an isolated incident. It was simply the most blatant example of a rot that had already taken hold.
Ms. Cream was spared the worst of his writing thanks to her most important titles being developed by Dimps.
