Not eating as much certainly helps. A few years ago, I was pretty fat though I never actually weighed myself. For reference, I was a size 40 waste with pants with a size 30 length. I was lazy with a shit diet, eating slop and drinking two energy drinks a day if not more.

What helped me was starting to play drums again, which I couldn't do since I moved away from home and didn't have a place to set up. I finally got that, but it was in a room with no air conditioner which would be sweltering and I would usually play for a few hours to get my chops back. This also affected my eating schedule since by the time I would finish work, go play drums for a few hours and head home, it was too late to eat dinner so I'd just go to bed.

That was back in 2022 and I've kept up the same schedule so I've lost quite a bit of weight. I was probably well over 220 lbs and now I'm down to the mid-160s. I still have a somewhat skinny-fat physique (either loose skin or remnants of belly fat/man tits), which likely won't go away unless I start hitting the gym and focusing on those particular areas.

I guess the main thing that helped was not only physical aspect of playing drums, but also that I found something to occupy my time so that I'd pretty much stop eating out of boredom which was a big problem for me before. If you could find a similar activity/activities, that may make the prospect of eating less easier.
