That was my experience too. I'm 45 so this was a pretty long time ago. I still hear the song "I keep holding on" by Simply Red playing in my head whenever I think about it. Goodwill was boring, and I'd always max out before my mom did. Back then most of the toys were just junk from the 70s. We didn't have the same glut of chinese plastic crap that you see today. So it'd be barbies with marker marks and cut hair, or broken GI Joes or He-Man when it came to the newer stuff we'd find there. Every once in a while there'd be something neat.
We'd then go to taco bell or burger king and get food, and hang on her apron strings while my mom ran errands around town. Paying the phone bill, returning library books, getting groceries, etc.
I actually get a weird physical ache thinking about it.
