I want to replace the rear diff in my 1976 Corvette with a more aggressive differential. I have plans to upgrade the engine and make it worthy of the small block title and pull this gay smog era shit off it, but there isn't much point in upgrading the front and keeping the back stock as I will just nuke something back there when I first get it set up. It has the TH350 and I have no desire or plans to switch to a 4speed manual or auto with OD. I am looking at 3.55, 3.70, and 3.90 rear diffs. Anyone have any experience? I posted before but life got in the way. I have used calculators and I find the RPMs, but real world input is appreciated. I mostly want to have that hood up, kicked in the back of your seat, tire melting fun of older cars, but also be able to handle driving on the back country roads here (50-65mph) without being miserable. The 3.90 is tempting for the visceral feel, but the 3.70 would be easier on the highway, but may leave me wanting moar. After this gets beefed up, the next is new cylinder heads, cam, stall converter, possibly stroke it to a 383. I am too beefy to get a 4 speed manual put in, these cars were made for the delicate manlets of 1970.
