I guess I *could* clip them, but I was just planning to base over mine. The added surface area of the puddle base gives me more room to slather glue on.

I have some extra Blood Angel Terminators from Third Edition Space Hulk that I was going to form into squads for my army, and they come on weird oblong puddle bases meant for the Space Hulk board. It would be simple to glue those to round 40mm bases and simply work up the basing material around them to match the rest of my army.
