It's interesting how much of the early web only exists in the memories of people who were there at the time. Back then, I figured that everything would be mirrored, archived, saved, etc, but what really happened is that information became far more ephemeral than it was in the analog days of yore. Even sites like archive.org are woefully incomplete because they've been scrubbed of anything that might be "offensive" or embarrassing to anyone with influence.
