Episode 12: "Major Incident"

The story of Professor Moriaki's love letter has been resolved.

The title is a play on words, "Dog Incident," but the story also has the same plot where the three of them, Ayutori, Tatsun, and Sanada, investigate the case.

The multipurpose room is the same room that Ayutori escapes to in the final episode, "Girl A." In front of this room is the second-year building, and one floor above that is the third-year building.

In "Girl A," looking down from the third-year classroom, you can see a shadow that looks like Ayutori in the multipurpose room. But who cares about such small details?

As I wrote in the "Time Bomb" section, it was a lot of work cutting and trimming this story to make it neat and tidy.

What helped them in this were the deductive reasoning skills of third-year Ayutori and some nice hints from Tatsun. I was stunned by Ayutori's ability to quickly narrow down the suspect from just one photo, saying "You're amazing!" Tatsun's assistance was also perfectly coordinated, and it was clear that they had grown.

And finally, Sanada gets his moment to shine! He takes out all the frustration he's built up over the long, unsatisfying period on the female teacher.

Ayutori dreams of getting involved in crimes like in a detective novel, and has even made some rather inappropriate remarks, but when she actually comes face to face with the "culprit," she is powerless to do anything against the unexpected counterattack. The storyline of "Nameko" ends with a slightly bitter feeling about what it means to really be embroiled in a crime.
