Silent Hill 2 Remake took a week to get to 1 million units sold before it became the best selling game in the series. F surpassed that in a day.

The series died not because of western devs, but because they were afraid to try anything new. Homecoming, Downpour, and Origins were the exact same shit as the originals but worse in every regard. F is new and it's wildly superior to the originals from the combat to the difficulty to even the writing and voice acting, you'll realize this when you get a PC powerful enough to play it.
