I'm a huge David Cage aficionado (In the sense that I am very interested in him and played all his games) and comparing him with Kojima is fucking laughable
In 1998, Kojima released Metal Gear Solid. An excellent stealth game with a pretty fun story.
In 1999, David Cage released Omikron, a highly ambitious high concept pile of shit. Jank of the biggest kind.
In 2004, Kojima released Metal Gear Solid 3. One of the best games of all time, coming off of Metal Gear Solid 2, another masterpiece with an incredible plot.
In 2005, David Cage released Indigo Prophecy, a "game" that had immense potential and a really good first two chapters and then falls into absurdity, retarded Matrix ripoffs and French "auteur" insanity of the cringe kind. I love this "game" and I love it because it's fucking terrible.
In 2008, Kojima released MGS 4. In 2010, he released Peace Walker. Both huge piles of shit.
In 2010, David Cage released Heavy Rain, another "game" that had immense potential and even some fun moments but ended up also shitting itself by the end. This one took longer than Indigo Prophecy to shit itself, but it's also not as funny how it did it.
Kojima and Cage were comparable at this specific point of time. Kojima was at his lowest, so he approaches Cage status. Even then, MGS 4 and Peace Walker have actual gameplay.
In 2014, Kojima released Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and P.T., two very short but very fun games that showed immense potential for the future.
In 2013, David Cage released Beyond: Two Souls, one of the most boring "games" ever made. Nothing good to say about this garbage.
In 2019, Hideo Kojima released Death Stranding. This game is not my cup of tea, but it is undeniably soulful.
In 2018, David Cage released Detroit: Become Human. This "game", despite sharing a lot of the flaws from the previous games, is actually genuinely fun and enjoyable mostly unironically.
They're once again briefly comparable.
