As of 00:01 on 14th October 2025:
- Chinese (and Hong Kong) owned ships calling US ports are hit with massive multi-million fees, in most cases an amount significantly greater than the ship's charter hire for the voyage.
- The above applies to all ships that have been financed through Chinese banks.
- All Car Carrier ships, regardless of nationality, are hit with massive punitive fees for daring to import foreign cars on US soil. This includes mostly Norwegian and Israeli owned Car Carriers (the largest owners) importing cars from Europe, Korea and Japan - not just China

- US owned ships calling Chinese ports are hit with massive multi-million fees, in most cases even greater than the US equivalents.
- The above applies to foreign owners listed on US stock exchanges, as long as >25% stock ownership, voting rights or board seats are American.
- China retains the right to conduct extensive investigations into ownership structures, ultimate beneficial owners and so on to determine "true ownership" on all ships calling its ports.
- China has the right to refuse affected ships from leaving its ports.

Keep in mind that ships calling US ports is fairly normal business, but ships calling Chinese ports is absolutely essential to the world economy and the transport of goods around the world. The numbers are immense.
