Um. lol.
There is so much to unpack here I'm not sure where to start. If you are selling a product most of the audience doesn't care about, lowering the price is not going to directly impact sales so much. Honestly the entire vibe I got from the "Suteito obu Purei" from Japan is basically the same vibe I got from Microsoft's "Xbox is looking for love in Japan" direct. These companies are BRUTALLY desperate because the absolute fucking metric avalanche of Switch 2 sales is NOT stopping, Japan represents one of the biggest gaming audiences on Earth (120+ million people, most of whom are gamers), and yet as a nation they have all uniformly decided to only care about Nintendo.
They never fucked with PC.
They don't fuck with PlayStation anymore.
They literally have no fucking idea what an Xbox is and Master Chief is "gaijin mask" to them.
Instead like half of Japan are all lining up, uniformly, entering lotteries and graciously purchasing Switch 2, one after another. And eventually there will be a Switch 2 sold for like 1/4 or 1/3 of Japan's entire population. If you don't believe me, look at Switch 1 sales in Japan: that's exactly what happened. For every 3 people in Japan, there is a Switch 1 there. The same thing is going to happen with Switch 2. In fact, it's already happening.
The core and crux of the problem is, PlayStation is not a brand that appeals to the Japanese gamers anymore. They are a dudebro console that sells Madden, Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, FIFA, etc. All things Japs generally do not care about. There are only two PlayStation exclusive games that anyone in Japan cares about anymore, and those are Gran Turismo 7 and MLB The Show. And that's just not enough for most gamers in Japan. I really don't think people understand that the entire reason Switch is so huge is because most Japanese people live in extremely tiny apartments and spend like one quarter of their day on the subway. You want Japs to come back? Reopen Japan Studio.
