It's not. I don't care if you think WuWa or ZZZ has better gameplay (especially since we're in a general for F5: The Game), but a short segment of QTEs doesn't really represent how the game plays at all. A lot of the non-combat stuff is incredibly dumbed down, unfortunately. Previews did suggest that we'll get actual rail grinding in the upcoming patch.

The game occasionally has short QTE sections that are impossible to fail. Part of the reason is that people kept complaining about failing similar ones in the 1.0 patch, so Kuro dumbed them down significantly. Cartethyia's segment is probably the most egregious since it's the longest, but they're all pretty short overall. The one during the Black Shores storyline is very cool, at least.

That is also true, yes. Not being able to get new units isn't too bad when (You) are usually one of the top tier characters. I also like how a lot of the later questlines give (You) a lot of voice lines. Helps the interactions with other characters.
