The show has a neat style, though hardly the most technically impressive if you're familiar with what other modern rider and sentai shows do. It has a tough uphill battle after the last show, which had some of the best action in Reiwa for this series, but the henshin was cool, and the action was fun. The style is unique enough to stand out, which is what I was hoping for.
A big mistake for this episode was not properly showing the protagonist's bad luck and struggles with his dream. They speak a lot about how he's helpless and has terrible luck, but the only unlucky thing that happened to him was caused by the villain, so it's more of a villain attack than a miserable life. I think if you saw the Gavv finale, you may get a better impression, but it's a wasted opportunity not to have an unlucky montage like Den-O did in his first episode. And because we don't get a good idea of that beyond what his sister says and some quick photos, the guy's motivation and drive feel rather hollow. It's good that he wants to help others, but the episode making a big deal about how he can't really do it seems to exaggerate someone who's (seemingly) a basic dude. I'm sure they'll expand on why he's like that later with some backstory, but they probably could have included some of that in this episode to make a better introduction. If it's something like their parents helped people and died, some quick line hinting at it could have worked perfectly.
So it was fine, but definitely lacking in the more important parts to sell the plot.
