The thing is you're not really dead before you live, you simply don't exist, dying is the cessation of life, in a way to be "dead" is kind of an oxymoron as it implies a constant state, but it's not, it's just what we call a remembered person after they've stopped living
In the same way, I don't believe you "emerged from the void" because it implies you existed, floating somewhere, waiting to be born
I think what you are didn't exist, not even in a nonphysical state, but rather formed as everything that came to create you, matter and energy alike, came together to form you and likewise your soul, it's not immortal in the sense that it exists the way it is now, but rather immortal in the sense that it doesn't disintegrate and become nothing but simply turns into other energy
After you die you won't exist unthinking and unfeeling, you simply won't be, someone else will form, many new people will form, unfortunately the world is too crowded and souls become thinner and less powerful, that's why there's more NPCs than ever before
Be thankful you were born conscious and aware and not just a human robot assuming that's the case
