There are multiple levels of reality, and that's why this is so complex. Your Higher Self can incarnate in multiple creatures at the same time. But unlike the Abrahamic religions, where everyone follows a single destiny with the goal of heaven or hell, here it's different: everyone has their own spiritual evolution. Each life serves to develop other faculties.
In this incarnation, you may not feel particularly suited to helping others. You may be more of an individualist, and there's nothing wrong with that if that's what your soul needs to experience now.
Remembering past reincarnations is usually a difficult experience. People expect to discover they were princes or princesses, but more often than not, it's sudden deaths or difficult experiences that come back to them. This remains valuable knowledge, but you have to be psychologically prepared to accept it.

The day you seek to explore your past lives, do so in meditation, preferably at night, because night is the domain of the subconscious. Day, on the other hand, is more of a time for anchoring yourself in nature and matter.
