It's still a very charming game. The SNES in particular has a lot of RPGs that are still great today.
Ness is definitely endearing, he's a silent protagonist but the way other characters interact with him tells you a lot about him. My favourite quirk is that he gets homesick if he goes too long without calling home to Mom.
