I don’t actually read much I’m more of a film guy but my friend reads a lot of complex literature like Don Quixote and the Inferno and last time I said no thanks when she tried to lend me a book, she joked that she wanted to tie me up and force me to read.

This trend is pretty obvious across platforms. IMDB is obviously weighted toward male taste, whereas GoodReads is weighted toward female taste


My question is, what causes this bifurcation?
