>But somehow, some fucks latched into this dude's idea so hard, that it became de facto the only type of armor that existed in that era
It is latched on to because it was definitively the armor used by Alexander and his armies. Making it the most relevant armor of the era. This does not mean one guys idea about its construction is correct, but it 100% was armor made of linen, and is the armor Alexander and his soldiers are depicted as wearing.
I don't know why morons who have never read a single thing from the period insist on talking about it. Everyone who has an opinion on the linothorax seems to be informed entirely by fucking youtube and 4chan. It's so goddamn retarded.
>lack of evidence
Because it's made of fucking linen, same problem as "muh leather armor" which definitively existed, and yet some of the only finds of it we have are from burials in permafrost and pyramids because obviously it deteriorates over time. If it didn't literally every single shovel full of dirt in Europe would be nothing but thousands of years worth of leather shoes.
Linothorax is not a made up modern term. It is the Greek term for armor made of linen.
