Rogueligkfuck, they play on the safety/danger combo like no other types of games. Despite the randomness of the genre desperately trying to keep the mystery intact for as long as possible.
The mystery of the levels and mechanics fade yet the games keep on being played from the sheer chemical reaction of departing from home (where the character is created or equipped) and into the fray for as long as possible then back home to safety for a new set of preparations.

Serenity should be able to react with mystery at a similar potency but i can't picture examples of it happening. How can it be more than an enhancing atom within the danger molecule?
