Godzilla Cardo Game (this time with effort put into it) was a respectable boxed game that invited players to engage with the Chrono Clash Gauge for a delightfully balanced approach to boardstate ramping. Bandai's new system allowed for subtle turns that simply fly under the radar to be hedged against grandiose ones that get loud and are full of mayhem; how you interact with the swinging pendulum of power is up to you. The system was of course later picked up and used with Digimon, where the Memory rebranding made plenty of sense and fit the theme of monster battles suitably. It has since been heralded as a great innovation in card games and makes the power struggle a dynamic one rather than formulaic.
