We have the same kind of denial here too. People who live in Vaughan or Richmond Hill say they're in a "nice" place that is safe because they're a 15 minute drive from downtown Toronto. They'll tell you this as their car is broken into and there's a dozen police cruisers staged outside a home 3 doors down negotiating the release of a hostage from a shirtless negroid on PCP.
