I think most are just asking for the new art to have some of that detailed coloring the old art had, not to bridge some sort of impossible gap with the old and the new.
They can have a unified aesthetic using only a few in-house artists while also keeping things more visually interesting with more detailed shading. The new wild hunt girls look like their hair just got bucket-filled (except Tsumugi for whatever reason), it's tragic because I otherwise think their designs are quite good
