But isn't it more of young guys scrambling in shit jobs to pay bills that there is hardly time for themselves, let alone relationships?

Been there, done that. Worked a six night a week night crew supermarket job, and spent my free time trying to get some sort of art career going. And on my only night off,I would go through the miserable process of dressing up, dragging my ass to some club, beg huge smirking bouncers to allow me the privilege of paying $25 to get in. Once in,I get to Look for Girls with the stink of desperation and the approach of a wizened Calcutta begger. So I decided for productivity over that crapshoot, and a social life equivalent of fast food in Second Life, an avatar based chat program where everything in the game world has been made by an ingame player. But since I work nights, most of the women I met through it were from the other side of the world. It helped quell the loneliness, but after a while not at all. So I know what it's like to waste time on pointless people.
