After failennial normalfags which only played the Mega Drive games started bitching about muh "Sonic's stupid friends" was he ditched and shonen kino got mutiliated into Pontac & Graff's saturday morning cartoon style shlock.
Shadow obviously couldn't play any significant roles in games which ignored any serious lore, because Shadow's entire existence IS lore personified.
This is where the "Eggman is the only good character in the series" simplification came from as an argument during these contests even back in '21. Ol' Eggy is not the only good character mind you, just the only one that wasn't either ruined by bad writers or completely shelved into irrelevancy. He also has the widest appeal, but that's besides the point.

Thank FUARKING goodness that Sonic Team's battered wife era is ofcially over and Shadow is FUARKING back in his full glory.

The board got bigger. It's just that simple. This place was full of fallacious morons as early as 2007, especially with the full-blown console war autists who endure to this very day in a more brown and poor state. The quality is similar, the volume is not, so it seems more oppressive.
