we unironically need funny skins, voicelines, banter between the quirky characters, victory poses, victory quips, emotes, animations etc
those were not the reason 2042 failed. that's simply used as a not-so-clever scapegoat and a strawman against adding something a vocal minority of the players dislike.
any modern live service that doesn't have deep, character-driven customization is bound for failure. EA needs to simply ignore the vocal minority on this and give us characters we can personalize and customize to our liking. that's how the game is played these days.
