Not Guardsmen. Regiments. The losses are noted as being in the hundreds of billions, and morale has 'been declining for a while'. This is considered a minor battlefield of little importance. And this is just to stalemate an enemy that they vastly outnumber.

I can only assume that a battlefield of moderate or major importance to the Imperial Guard would involve tens of trillions of dead guardsmen.
