Idea: Lone fighting game character thats parent developer company has been years since bankrupt but instead of spending lots of money to acquire licensing rights to the IP to bring back their co-roster, they just capture other characters from random media franchise and implements old co-roster move sets into said random media franchise to avoid copyright strikes IRL.

The lone fighting game character also changes their core element (i.e. fire, water, earth, wind, thunder, poison, etc..) usage to a new one but keeps core moveset the same and design wise changes their attire with something covering their face but their bodyshape remains the same.

For ingame lore, drop hints of what old game they were from but not outright saying it as it would blow the cover on them

They are the final boss of the game

In a nutshell, making a game that centers around the broke fighting game character from an IP that wants to bring back their IP but thinks it's an unfruitful endeavor, so they test the grounds using a random media franchise characters using the fighting game character's IP moveset onto that random franchise to avoid copyright DMCA both in-game and IRL.
