I wouldn't really compare combos with death timers, combos are more like stuns in that you're still in the game just unable to do anything for the most part, death timers is just downtime of you being taken out of action but free to think over what your next move is gonna be, its more like if there was a minute between matches, really in the end no one likes stuns and no one really actually likes being stuck in a long combo string, this is part of why smash is so popular with casuals

2XKO literally had to appeal to casuals to justify the control scheme but it didn't. Now it satisfies no one, I've seen a lot of seasoned fg players say the controls are unintuitive because they're simply used to motion inputs so the fact that they weren't able to capture pretty much any casuals means this game is for no one. I guess ironically it's the perfect game for someone like Leffen that's used to smash's control scheme and is also successful in fighting games.
