I'm still on the Aerith lives camp, there are multiple timelines for a reason and there's been too much hinting at it. As for how the game itself will end, I think they might go for multiple endings. Shipping culture is a thing in the FF7 and they kept the affinity system so I think they'll continue to appease the Tifafags and Aerithfags. I think the main non-optional storyline will lean towards Aerith, whether it's her alive reuniting with the group or Cloud wanting to meet her. I can't really imagine them alienating either ship camp.
