It died literally because Nomura had to work on KH3. Its not a big mystery, it was announced that the rebranded XV was still a Nomura production and Tabata was just supposed to help out, but then Nomura(either due to a corporate decision or by his own accord) had to shift to just doing KH3 as his main priority., and Tabata has said in an interview that whatever Nomura had done at that point was only like 15 or 20% of a real functioning game(and this part is just my guess but apparently Nomura never wrote anything fucking down in some pitch bible or game documents that clearly state this happens and these are the mechanics) so Tabata had nothing to really go on aside from just making his own game from the scraps that he got. Anything else you hear is just some anons fanfic. Its not that complicated. Plus with the reality of game development odds are the way Nomura directs is on the fly and figuring it out as he goes along, which makes sense cause during development of Versus with how much bullshit Nomura had to go through with the shitty Crystal engine, he himself was probably trying to figure out what he could actually do for his game. Showing people an animated cutscene of your OC's talking or sitting in a fucking car is easy in that regard but that isnt a real game

Like they can still have the Kingdom being invaded as a set piece for gameplay, but just using Car instead of the gang, you dont have to necessarily make it Noctis going through that. And to get a good ending you can just bring up how Death(whatever her name was in Versus) awakening after Ardyn fucked shit up and help Noctis find a true way to beat him.or some shit. If Nomura was smart he could make it work, but he would rather just start from scratch which is really annoying.

That list is bullshit, but I find it funny that when people wish for Versus 13 from Nomura-san they expect that game NOT to go through the same contrived multi-expanding bullshit even though Kingdom Hearts is RIGHT FUCKING THERE. Hell the shitty thing about Verum Rex is that now it ALSO has to tie in to KH bullshit and not just be a game "from the team that brought you KH" or some shit like that.
You are literally better off someone comes along and just blatantly steals the idea of Versus and just make their own fucking game at this point. Any bullshit dev on /v/ with dreams of making a kino action game? Just steal the shit from Nomura's trailer and make it your own at this point. Years later all that fuck could do was just make the same trailer FUCKING AGAIN so just steal Stella as a character, make your character look like Sasuke Uchida, and there, youd make more progress then Nomura has in fucking YEARS
